WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins is on his own, and Kevin Owens' WWE Universal Championship is in his sights, at WWE Clash of Champions.

After a long and profitable stint as "The Man" under Triple H's tutelage, Rollins was officially tossed to the side by The Game in the middle of a Fatal 4-Way for the vacant WWE Universal Championship, which was more or less handed to Owens on a platter as a result.

Following The Game's decision to go rogue — Stephanie McMahon was allegedly unaware of his plans — Owens was officially annointed as the chosen one in a move that both validated The Prizefighter's own years of hard work and positioned him as The Game's new handpicked top star of Raw's New Era. Rollins, meanwhile, was left jilted following his years of work in support of Stephanie and Triple H in The Authority, and Owens' insinuation that The Architect had lost a step since his career-threatening knee injury provoked him into a fury against the new champion on Raw.

Stephanie was quick to suspend Rollins indefinitely for his display of aggression, but Raw General Manager Mick Foley, who wasn't entirely convinced Triple H and Stephanie hadn't planned the coup, vetoed the suspension and instead gave The Architect a chance to challenge Owens at WWE Clash of Champions.

Can Rollins redesign his game plan, rebuild his confidence and reclaim his independence? Or is this really just "The Kevin Owens Show"?

United States Champion Rusev vs. Roman Reigns

After several months of false starts, controversies and straight-up raucous brawls, Roman Reigns will get his chance to tear Rusev's stranglehold on the United States Championship at Raw's first exclusive pay-per-view, WWE Clash of Champions.

Some began to wonder if Reigns and Rusev would ever actually arrive at this championship encounter after the tumultuous ride they have been on since the middle of the summer. Wedding celebrations have been ruined, hard-hitting non-title affairs have taken place and blindside attacks have been waged, most notably at SummerSlam when The Big Dog pulverized The Super Athlete before the bell could ring for their scheduled championship match.

However, Rusev returned the favor several weeks later on Raw when he viciously ambushed Reigns, leaving him lying and making a firm statement in the process. All of this led to Raw General Manager Mick Foley finally pitting the two against one another at WWE Clash of Champions and personally promising that no one would stop the two from reaching a decision on Sunday.

Can Rusev crush Reigns' chances of bringing home America's most prestigious championship, or will The Big Dog get the ultimate retribution on The Bulgarian Brute while simultaneously adding another accolade to his ever-growing resume?

Raw Women's Champion Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

For Raw Women's Champion Charlotte, the situation at WWE Clash of Champions has gone from bad to worse.

Thanks to the meddling of the champion and her protégé Dana Brooke, Charlotte now must defend the title against not one, but two revolutionaries when she faces Sasha Banks and Bayley in a Triple Threat Match this Sunday.

The Boss had the top-contender status locked up after beating Bayley on the Sept. 12 edition of Raw. That is, until General Manager Mick Foley — at the behest of Charlotte and Dana — reviewed footage of the match's closing moments and determined both Superstars' shoulders were down for the count. As a result, and in apparent contrast to the champion's expectations for a night off this Sunday, Foley opted to turn Charlotte's title defense into a Triple Threat Match, a predicament that greatly reduces her odds of retaining.

Charlotte, Sasha and Bayley have been linked together since their days at NXT, when they, along with SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch, comprised the "Four Horsewomen," a quartet often credited with transforming women's wrestling.

Much has changed, however, since their time spent competing inside the yellow ropes of NXT. Sasha is out to regain the Raw Women's Title she lost at SummerSlam, as well as gain retribution against the woman who injured her and jeopardized The Boss' career. Bayley, having already defeated Charlotte in non-title competition, is eager to get her first taste of championship gold in WWE. The Raw Women's Champion, meanwhile, has a tall task ahead of her if she plans on extending her second title reign past this week.

Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson won't be satisfied with merely ending the Raw Tag Team Championship reign of The New Day at WWE Clash of Champions. If the bruisers-in-black have their way, Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods will be forced into early retirement, never to be heard from again, after their match against Gallows & Anderson on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Having already dealt one painful sendoff to The Dudley Boyz, Gallows & Anderson now threaten to end more careers and turn The New Day into "The Old Day."

The Club members injured Big E once before, taking him out with the first case of "ringpostitis," a memory that is still fresh in the big man's mind. But even though The New Day have fallen prey to Gallows & Anderson's attacks, the champions remain as confident and irreverent as ever, ready to push further into year two as Raw's top tag team.

Will the cruel-intentioned, onetime "retirement coordinators" cause The New Day to retreat to a lifetime of La-Z-Boys and Booty-O's? Or can Big E, Kingston & Woods fight off Gallows & Anderson's persistent onslaught?

WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick

There is no rest for the best when it comes to Raw's newly launched Cruiserweight division. WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins will defend his title at WWE Clash of Champions this Sunday against grizzled veteran Brian Kendrick less than two weeks after winning the coveted accolade in the Cruiserweight Classic.

This Sunday's showdown will mark Perkins' first official title defense of the Cruiserweight Championship and it comes fresh on the heels of outlasting 31 other competitors in WWE Network's inaugural tournament to crown the best Cruiserweight in the world.

Kendrick also was a competitor in the historic CWC, making it into the Quarterfinal round only to lose in a grueling battle against tournament favorite Kota Ibushi. Despite the emotional loss, The Post-Apocalyptic Scavenger gained the respect of the WWE Universe and his fellow Superstars thanks to his scrappy style and unbreakable will.

Most remember Kendrick from his previous tenure in WWE, in which the blond-haired highflier became a WWE Tag Team Champion. However, the Brian Kendrick that WWE fans witnessed in the CWC and in his return on Raw is a much different man. Now a rugged veteran, Kendrick employs an anything-goes offensive style that has proven to be very dangerous for his opponents.

After reigning supreme in a No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Match Monday night on Raw, Kendrick — who just weeks ago thought his WWE career was over following his exit from the CWC — now has a second lease on life. Will his embattled journey lead him to the WWE Cruiserweight Championship?

For the titleholder, the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, rising from obscurity to the history books as the first WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Not only that, but the charismatic competitor also did it by defeating some of the best Cruiserweights in the world. Perkins has shown that he is worthy of being called the best, but with little time to recover from the grueling 32-man tournament, can he survive the ruthless Kendrick?

Cesaro vs. Sheamus (Match Seven in Best of Seven Series)

Cesaro has come back from the brink to tie Sheamus in their Best of Seven Series, but can The King of Swing complete the comeback at WWE Clash of Champions to earn a guaranteed championship opportunity?

What started as a bullheaded test of wills over the summer between The Swiss Superman and Celtic Warrior quickly became a battle to determine the next man up when Raw General Manager Mick Foley placed the heavy hitters in a Best of Seven Series and dangled a championship opportunity to the winner. The Irishman, who had been accused of coasting by The Hardcore Legend, wasted no time in putting Cesaro in a 0-3 hole, largely on the strength of brutalizing the strongman's back.

With no option left but to run the table, Cesaro proceeded to do just that: A skin-of-the-teeth win at WWE Live in London kept The King of Swing in the game, and The Swiss Superman continued to eke out victories on consecutive Raws to bring the series to a dead heat. Lady Luck clearly has a stake in Cesaro's future, but with his back still hurting and Sheamus in do-or-die mode, it's time to see whether The King of Swing can deliver, or whether he'll have no choice but to respect the hawk.

Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho

Sami Zayn is set to either receive "The Gift of Jericho" — or give "it" back to The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla, Sunday, Sept. 25, at WWE Clash of Champions, live on the award-winning WWE Network.

This unexpected but thrilling matchup came from a most unusual source: the fact that both Zayn and Jericho were, or are, best friends with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. Zayn, of course, defeated Owens at WWE Battleground to supposedly end their rivalry, but KO both rebounded and surpassed The Underdog from the Underground, ascending to champion status while Zayn struggled to build on what he claimed was his most significant accomplishment.

Jericho found some success of his own by teaming with Owens as Jeri-KO, but Owens' rise seemed to have left Jericho in the dust somewhat as well — at least, that's what Zayn said when Jericho tried to bait him on an episode of "The Highlight Reel," leading to a brawl between the two and an immediate announcement by Raw General Manager Mick Foley that the two would go one-on-one to settle their fresh, but fiery, score.

Can The Underdog from the Underground get himself back on the right track? Or will Jericho drink in the taste of success once again?

Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax (Kickoff Match)

Nia Jax has grown accustomed to demolishing the competition, but that could change this Sunday as she battles one of WWE's most veteran and least predictable Superstars, Alicia Fox, on the WWE Clash of Champions Kickoff.

Granted, the first and only match between the two, on the Sept. 12 edition of Raw, ended abruptly when Nia bulldozed Alicia through — not onto, not over, but through — the ringside barricade. Yet, the former Divas Champion got her licks in before that crash, and the emphatic ending no doubt adds to Foxy's animosity toward the juggernaut of Raw's Women's division.

The rivalry has been personal from the start. On the Sept. 5 Raw, Nia overpowered Ann Esposito, a longtime friend of Alicia's, and following that massacre, Fox confronted the juggernaut backstage. Exhibiting the type of erratic behavior that the WWE Universe has come to expect from her, Alicia went ballistic and showed no signs of intimidation, despite Jax's well-documented path of destruction.

Nia has rag-dolled Alicia once before, but is it possible Fox came away from that beating with a better understanding of how to counter the imposing power of her Kickoff opponent? Or will Nia make Alicia fall like the rest and level her with the delicacy of a wrecking ball?
