Series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura was at Toy Fair 2012 today where he confirmed that Transformers 4 is moving ahead with Michael Bay back in the director's chair and a 2014 release date. Check out what he had to say below:

Deadline says that Bay and Co. will only shoot Transformers 4 next and not the fourth and fifth installments back-to-back as had been rumored last year. The site adds that the Paramount brass and Bay are all plenty peeved at Di Bonaventura for letting the proverbial cat of the bag before they could officially announce the news. Bay will first shoot Pain and Gain with Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg.

UPDATED: Paramount Pictures has now issued a press release officially announcing Michael Bay's involvement:

Paramount Pictures announced today that director Michael Bay has signed a two-picture deal with the studio, which will commence this spring with the filming of Pain and Gain, and will be followed by the next installment in the hit Transformers franchise.

Based on a true story, Pain and Gain follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida. First told in an article from the Miami New Times, Pain and Gain, will be directed by Bay and will star Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Expected to begin production in early spring, the movie's producers include Bay, Donald De Line and Ian Bryce.

Following Pain and Gain, Bay will bring audiences a new take on the Transformers franchise as he begins production on the fourth installment in the hit series of movies based on the best-selling Hasbro toyline. The third, and most recent installment of the franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Is the fourth highest global grossing film of all time with 1.124 billion dollars of worldwide box office success. Directed by Bay, the movie will re-unite the filmmaking team from the hit franchise, including producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto and Ian Bryce; and executive producers Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian. Paramount Pictures will release the film on June 29th, 2014.

"Michael has been working on PAIN AND GAIN for a number of years but has patiently waited for the perfect casting to trigger a start," said Adam Goodman, President of Paramount's Film Group. "Clearly his patience has paid off as we couldn't be more excited about this combo. His passion for this project is just awesome."

Transformers 4 to Have All-New Cast

Josh Duhamel confirms that Transformers 4 will have an all-new cast Director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg are indeed returning for Transformers 4, but get ready to hear the term "reboot" kicked around a lot, as none of the former franchise cast members are returning, which opens the series up for reinvention.

At this moment in time, it's still being called Transformers 4, but that will likely change before it hits the big screen on June 29th of 2014. Josh Duhamel, who co-starred in the first three films confirmed earlier today that he will not be returning. And his belief is that neither will Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, nor John Turturro.

"I don't think anybody's doing it. I know Shia LaBeouf's not doing it. I don't think Tyrese Gibson or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or anybody else is doing it. Whenever these movies make that much money they're going to make as many as they can. [but] I haven't heard anything about it. They haven't called me."

While none of the humans seem game in reprising their former characters, one thing is for certain: Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee have definitely been confirmed for their return in Transformers 4.

Transformers 4 comes to theaters June 29th, 2014.
