Take-Two Delays Max Payne 3 Again, Blames Baseball For Bad Quarter

Originally planned to hit this "winter" then moved to the first half of next year, Rockstar Games' third Max Payne title won't hit until August 2010 at the earliest, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced today.

The rest of Take-Two's slate, including BioShock 2, Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II appear to be sticking to their regularly scheduled dates. But Max Payne 3 is now penciled in for a fiscal Q4 2010 release, giving the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game an August to October release window.

The rest of Take-Two's bad news is financial. The company expects fourth quarter and fiscal year 2009 to be below guidance due to "the performance of its Major League Baseball titles in the fourth quarter" and "lower than expected initial performance of several of its key holiday releases."

Take-Two's 2010 is also expected to be loss-heavy, thanks to Major League Baseball losses and the "movement of one triple-A title out of the fiscal year."

Strauss Zelnick, chairman, says the company's quarterly financial woes "were partially offset by the performance of our catalog business and a number of our holiday titles, as shown by the successful launch of Borderlands and the leading ratings and market share of NBA 2K10."

With the publisher's full fiscal year guidance expecting a loss, even with the release of BioShock, Red Dead Revolver and Max Payne sequels, it sure doesn't sound like Rockstar will have a new Grand Theft Auto on store shelves—at least not before November 1, 2010—to help put Take-Two in the black.

destaco:

The set-piece-heavy cinematic action amounts to a game that plays much as you'd expect of a bullet-time-driven action shooter made eight years after Max Payne 2. The fiction and general tone, though, fall a bit farther from the tree, with the story stripped back to a more "realistic" plot, for one, and the overwrought, metaphor-laden internal monologue of the earlier games toned down into more prosaic narration ("Giovanna was a brave girl. She wasn't giving up, and neither could I"). Gone, too, is the quirky in-game meta-material; though it could still materialise in the finished game, says Rockstar, there's as yet no counterpart to the earlier games' Twilight Zone parodies or Captain Baseball Bat Boy cartoons. Therefore, although this is recognisably a Max Payne game, it is one seen through the lens of Rockstar's multi-studio team and not of the series' creators. But wary fans should keep the faith because there's time enough between now and March 2012 for Rockstar to bring them around with a modern reimagining that gives as much as it takes away.

Max Payne 3 Coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this May

Today we're proud to officially announce that , the highly-anticipated dark and gritty action experience that continues the tale of former New York City detective Max Payne, will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 on May 15, 2012 in North America and May 18, 2012 in Europe, with the PC version launching on May 29th, 2012 in North America and June 1st, 2012 in Europe.

For Max, the tragedies that took his loved ones years ago are wounds that refuse to heal. No longer a cop, close to washed up and addicted to pain killers, he takes a job in São Paulo, Brazil, protecting the family of wealthy real estate mogul Rodrigo Branco, in an effort to finally escape his troubled past. But as events spiral out of his control, Max Payne finds himself alone on the streets of an unfamiliar city, desperately searching for the truth and fighting for a way out.

Featuring cutting edge shooting mechanics for precision gunplay, advanced new Bullet Time® and Shootdodge™ effects, full integration of Natural Motion’s Euphoria Character Behavior system for lifelike movement and a dark and twisted story, Max Payne 3 is a seamless, highly detailed, cinematic experience.

In addition to an expansive single-player campaign, Max Payne 3’s multiplayer offering brings the game’s cinematic feel, fluid gunplay and kinetic sense of movement into the realm of online multiplayer. Building on the fiction and signature gameplay elements of the Max Payne universe, Max Payne 3 features a wide range of new and traditional multiplayer modes that play on the themes of paranoia, betrayal and heroism, all delivered with the same epic visual style of the single-player game.

Look for much much more from Max Payne 3 in the weeks and months ahead, including the next video in the and the official site launch.

Hoje vai sair um novo trailer do development diary sobre isto.

Quando sair, meto aqui.. Deve sair no Facebook e no Youtube deles.

Holy shit

Só o pormenor da animação dele a deixar cair a AK para sacar as duas pistolas está top. O gameplay parece estar mesmo bem afinado.
