Julie Delphy Up for The Da Vinci Code Source: The Boston Herald November 25, 2004 The Boston Herald talked to French actress Julie Delpy (Before Sunset) who is on the short list to play the female lead opposite Tom Hanks in director Ron Howard's adaptation of Dan Brown's best-seller The Da Vinci Code. "I'm praying," Delpy told the newspaper. "But we'll see. You never know until there is a solid cast, but I am going to meet them." Delpy will get a sit-down with Howard and producer Brian Grazer, who are currently casting the film and say they are committed to hiring foreign actors to play the book's foreign characters. She is up for the role of Parisian cryptologist Sophie Neveu who helps Hanks' character - Harvard professor Robert Langdon - find the Holy Grail. "I don't know what their idea for it is," she said, "or if I am right for it. The character is French, in her 30s and has a shade of red in her hair. I can become a redhead!" On the list were Sophie Marceau, Audrey Tautou, Virginie Ledoyen, Amira Casar, Judith Godrèche and Linda Hardy. Today, it now seems that Sophie Marceau ("Braveheart", "The World is Not Enough") may have won the part after dumping another project in favour of joining the Tom Hanks-led film. FilmDeCulte reports that Monica Bellucci has just replaced Marceau in the adaptation of "le concile de pierre" that director Guillaume Nicloux is currently moving into production. The reason for her departure? Marceau preferred being involved in "The Da Vinci Code" and is headed for the US. Bellucci has now inherited the part with shooting on that film to begin in June and last ten weeks. No official word as yet though on whether Marceau is locked. As polémicas já começaram e curiosamente não vêm de onde mais se esperava; a igreja católica. Desta vez quem iniciou as hostilidades foi uma associação de albinos que se opõe que um albino presente na história seja um assassino. Segundo a National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation (NOAH), na voz do seu representante Mike McGowan, “Ron Howard e a Image Films Entertainment, que estão a produzir o filme, poderão fazer uma grande diferença para as pessoas que sofrem de albinismo se ajustarem a personagem de Silas de maneira a que não seja um albino fanático.” Mike McGowan acrescentou ainda que ao longo dos anos os albinos têm sido esteriotipados por cineastas que não procuram aprender nada sobre a doença e a forma como esta realmente faz mal às pessoas que a sofrem. As filmagens começam a 30 de Junho próximo em Paris, e terminam a 19 de Outubro em Inglaterra. O trabalho segue até 30 de outubro por lá e também na Inglaterra. A seqüência que está atualmente sendo rodada é justamente a abertura do filme, na qual o mortalmente ferido diretor do Museu do Louvre deixa uma mensagem criptografada para Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) A adaptação cinematográfica do best seller de Dan Brown está sendo dirigida por Ron Howard (Uma mente brilhante) e no elenco do filme estão Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno e Paul Bettany.
